£1.5 million is being invested in services for children with disabilities and their families in the Southern Board's area over 3 years.

Often children with disabilities and their families need support from a wide range of services and professionals.  With this in mind, the funding is being used to develop a 'Wraparound' initiative in each Trust area.  'Wraparound' is a 'one stop shop' idea which means that a number of professionals or services that a child with disabilities may need are brought together in one setting.  This means that the professionals are all in one place for the child, instead of the child having to go to each professional individually.

The range of services enhanced or developed as a result of 'Wraparound' includes:

 

 

With effect from the 1st April 2009 the responsibilities of the Southern Health and Social Services Board have transferred to the new Health and Social Care Board, Business Services Organisation and the Public Health Agency.
