Support to Victims of The Troubles
The Board has responsibility to co-ordinate a Trauma Advisory Panel, which was established in 1999.
Th Panel is made up of representatives from voluntary and statutory agencies, victims and survivors groups and the churches. The important work of the Trauma Advisory Panel was recognised when the Victim's Strategy was launched in April 2002. The value of working in partnership was underlined by this strategy and funding was made available to provide a support worker for each Trauma Advisory Panel until 2004.
In the Southern Board, Clare Quigley was appointed to co-ordinate and develop the work of the Trauma Advisory Panel to meet the requirement of the Victim's Strategy.
The panel had developed a plan, which will contribute to improved services for victims and survivors within the Board's area. This will be achieved through awareness raising, improved co-operation and co-ordination of existing and proposed services. When the Trauma Advisory Panel was established the Board funded specialist Trauma counsellor Posts in each of the three Community Trusts.
This work is lead by Clare Quigley.
