The Board has worked with local providers, service users/carers and voluntary groups to complete a “Review of Acute Treatment Services” 2002
This review accepted the need for acute in-patient beds on two sites (St Luke's, Armagh and Craigavon). However, it also stressed the inter-relationship between in-patient hospital provision and community provision and recommended a range of services:
- 24 Hour Helpline
- 24 hour rapid response, assessment and treatment service involving GPs
- Intensive home based treatment and support
- Access to community based respite and clinic beds
- Psychiatric liaison service to general hospitals
This work is led by Mr Tom Smith
