FRAUD
The Board is committed to maintaining an honest, open and well-intentioned atmosphere, within the whole organisation, in order to fulfil the objectives both of the Board and the NHS. It is intent on promoting an anti-fraud culture and an environment of openness with its staff.
The Board has put in place a strategy to prevent, detect and remedy fraudulent or illegal acts within the Board.
Also as the Central Services Agency (CSA) makes payments on the Board's behalf to GP's, Opticians, Pharmacists and Dentists, the Board works closely with the Counter Fraud Unit (CFU) of the CSA in investigating any suspected Practitioner Frauds. The Board also has input into CSA reporting systems designed to identify unusual trends regarding Practitioner payments and Board staff carry out Practice visits.
The Board is committed to rigorously investigating any fraudulent or illegal acts and where they are proven, to ensure that wrong doers are appropriately dealt with. It will take such actions as it deems appropriate to recover any assets lost or stolen as a result of fraud or other illegal acts.
